The relationship between media and politicians is like fish and water. Most politicians use media as the platform to project themselves and it also works on giving them some mileage.
Given the secularistic freedom in our country, media has become a powerful force and recognizing that many politicos have started their own news channels.
However, the power of any true leader depends on the self-confidence and believing in one's own might. A classic example to that is YS Jagan.
In today’s record, he is the most successful leader in the South India who won highest number of MLA and MP seats in elections. And he has been able to achieve it despite few legal issues surrounding him.
There is no doubt that Jagan is a people’s man but is that his only real strength? Many say no.
According to them, from the time Jagan came to power he kept media away and many say that is the secret of his strength. If we observe closely we can understand YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has spoken only to national media.
However, he has never given that type of leverage to the local media. But then, he has been keeping that respectable decorum with them at the state level and things are quite harmonious. This is yet another rare trait which makes him successful.
To top it all, Jagan didn’t even use his own media house to promote himself or elevate his image.
Sources close to the young leader say that Jagan feels any politician would face problems with over exposure to media.
A classic example to that is the US President Donald Trump and his sticky friction with the world renowned media houses there. In terms of Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu has the brand of media man as he is known for managing the media.
And it is also believed that he has seen downfall due to his over indulgence with media. Well, this is indeed a smart thought from Jagan who doesn’t allow that space with media but at the same time doesn’t underestimate them as well.
