In a significant development, the Supreme Court on Monday directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to provide complete details of the quid pro quo and disproportionate assets cases pending against YSR Congress Party president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy within two weeks.
A division bench of the Supreme Court, led by Justice Abhay S. Oka, was hearing a petition filed by state assembly Deputy Speaker K Raghu Ramakrishnam Raju.
The court requested specifics of discharge petitions in lower courts and pending applications in the Telangana High Court.
The bench instructed the investigating agencies to submit the details in a chart format, accompanied by affidavits, within three weeks. It also directed the submission of case details from all courts to enable the issuance of appropriate orders.
The case stems from a petition filed earlier by Raju, seeking the transfer of the trial of Jagan Mohan Reddy's disproportionate assets case to another state. He cited delays and the possibility of witness influence as reasons for his request.
The Supreme Court questioned the prolonged delays in the trial, despite the Telangana High Court's directive for daily hearings.
The bench sought an explanation for the stagnation, pointing to discharge and adjournment petitions as contributing factors.
Although Jagan’s counsel requested a deferment until January, the court scheduled the next hearing for December 13, emphasizing the importance of resolving the matter comprehensively after reviewing all pending petitions.
