Even February does not look promising. For a while, people thought things would pick up then. But now, the only big film expected is Swayambhu. Even this film’s release date is under doubt. Many feel it may get postponed. If that happens, February will have no big release at all.
Earlier, there was hope that March would bring back big films. But now, March also looks dry. Films like The Paradise and Peddi, which were expected to clash, are both facing uncertainty.
The Paradise is almost sure to be postponed. Many in the industry already know this, though it has not been officially announced. As for Peddi, the situation is unclear. If the team pushes hard, it may make the announced date. But heavy competition from a big Bollywood film is making the makers think twice. Some trade circles say Peddi is also likely to be postponed.
If Peddi also moves out, March will be left with just Dacoit as a notable release. Overall, this situation only benefits Toxic, which will then face very little competition.
So, looking at everything, the situation is clear. Sankranti is full and successful, but the next two months look almost empty for Telugu cinema.
