Senior YSR Congress party leader and former MLA Gadikota Dwarakanath Reddy from Kadapa district is all set to join the Telugu Desam Party, along with his family members on Wednesday.
Dwarakanath Reddy, who represented Lakkiredddypalle constituency in the past, is the brother-in-law of YSRC general secretary and Rajya Sabha member V Vijay Sai Reddy, who has married the former’s sister.
Along with Dwarakanath Reddy, his elder brother G Surendranath Reddy and sister Haremma (who happens to be mother-in-law of Alekhya Reddy, wife of NTR’s grandson Nandamuri Tarakaratna, who recently died) are also joining the TDP.
The family members, who have already held discussions with TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh, have reached Mangalagiri office and are all set to join the party.
Dwarakanath Reddy’s father Ramasubba Reddy was a Congress MLA from Lakkireddypalle in 1978. In 1994, Dwarakanath Reddy joined the TDP and won from the same constituency in the same year. In 1999, he did not get the TDP ticket, as a result of which he returned to the Congress.
In 2009, Lakkireddypalle constituency was abolished and merged with Rayachoti, but he did not get the Congress ticket. In 2014, he joined the YSRCP and expected the ticket from Rayachoti, but was denied. Even in 2019, he did not succeed and kept himself away from politics.
Now, Dwarakanath Reddy decided to try his luck from the TDP again. It remains to be seen whether he will get the ticket from the TDP this time.
