YSR Congress party general secretary and Rajya Sabha member V Vijay Sai Reddy on Monday announced that he would launch a media house very soon to counter the negative campaign unleashed by his political detractors.
In fact, Sai Reddy announced his plans to launch a newspaper and a television channel a couple of years ago itself, as he was terribly upset with the negative stories being carried by Eenadu headed by late Ch Ramoji Rao.
But he had to drop his plan under pressure from party president and former chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. He told Sai Reddy that there was no need to launch a separate media house, when the party has the backing of Sakshi, his own media.
“Now, I don’t want to listen even to Jagan. I have decided to launch a newspaper as well as a television channel very soon. This media house is going to be neutral, only meant for speaking the truth, rather than serving the interest of one party or a caste,” he said.
What angered Sai Reddy and provoked him to announce the launch of a media house is the reports carried by several newspaper about a person Madan Mohan, who alleged that his wife K Shanti, assistant commissioner of endowments, had an illicit relationship with Sai Reddy.
“It is unfortunate that some sections of media are slinging mud at me by making baseless allegations. They are linking my name to a woman and trying to tarnish my reputation and image,” he said.
Sai Reddy also suspected the role of some of the YSRCP leaders behind these rumours.
“I don’t leave anybody, including my own party leaders, for launching a malicious campaign against me. I am not going to be scared by such rumours,” he said.
Sai Reddy said he was examining the legal options to counter such propaganda.
“We shall complain to all the authorities concerned, including the women’s commission,” he said.
Stating that the Telugu Desam Party government was creating a reign of terror in the state, the YSRCP general secretary said the people were keenly watching all the developments.
“They are observing the demonic rule of Chandrababu Naidu. Despite being in opposition, we are not going to beat a retreat but expose the government,” he said.
Sai Reddy said if the elections are held now again, the YSRCP would come to power.
“We shall return to power and clip the wings of all those who are raising their heads now,” he warned.
