Telangana Rashtra Samithi government headed by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao seems to have decided to confront the state high court come what may on the indefinite strike of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), which entered 40th day on Wednesday.
The government rejected outright the suggestion of the state high court for appointing a three-member committee of retired Supreme Court judges to look into the demands of the RTC employees and arrive at a solution to end the crisis.
But KCR has already decided to wind up the RTC and so, he doesn’t want to take even a step backward.
His government filed a counter affidavit in the high court stating that there was no need for any such judicial committee to look into the RTC strike.
It argued that the RTC issue came under the labour court. All the workers have to work complying with the Industrial Dispute Act 1947 but none are following the regulations, the government said.
It further said that according to section 10 of the Industrial Dispute Act, the labour commission will take a decision on the strike. On the other hand, the RTC unions asked the court to set up a high-level committee to hold talks.
KCR is prepared to drag the issue up to Supreme Court and does not want to yield to any of the demands of the RTC.
