The situation of the Sankranthi releases seems to be not encouraging again.
The big films RRR and Radhe Shyam are set to release in the first week and second week of January respectively. Both are pan India films and the business is crucial in every part of the nation.
But Covid third wave is on its way. Night curfew is imposed in Maharashtra, which means that everything has to be closed by 9PM. So, the two night shows get affected.
Adding to that 50% occupancy rule is being imposed in Delhi and Gujarat. Sources say that Chennai is also going to see new rules in a couple of days.
Night curfew is imposed in UP and MP from 11 PM to 5 AM which means that the night shows cannot be screened.
The situation in AP and Telangana looks normal as of now but it is hard to predict the condition after a week. Will there be any change in teh release dates of RRR and Radhe Shyam is the big question.
Another film Bangarraju set for Sankranthi has no pan India issue. If the situation looks normal in Telugu states by then, it can have a smooth release.
