Former chief executive officer of Telugu television channel TV9, V Ravi Prakash, came out of his hideout and appeared before the Cybercrime police of Cyberabad on Tuesday evening.
Ravi Prakash arrived at the Cybercrime police station along with his lawyers at 4.30 pm.
As per the reports from inside, the police are recording his statements in connection with the two cases filed against him by the Alanda Media and Entertainment Private Limited, the new management of the channel.
A senior police officer has been interrogating him for the last one and a half hours on the course of developments right from the day the channel changed hands.
“So far, he is cooperating with the police,” sources in the department said.
Ravi Prakash had tapped all sources to avoid appearing before the police as he feared he would be arrested immediately after he came to the police station.
Right from NCLT to high court to Supreme Court, the former TV9 CEO knocked every door, but could not get the anticipatory bail.
However, the Supreme Court gave him some relief saying that he could go back to the high court for bail. It asked the high court to take up the petition on June 10 and conduct re-inquiry into the bail petition based on its merit and take a decision.
The Supreme Court also ruled that the police should give 48 hours’ notice to Ravi Prakash before they arrest him. So, he had no option but to appear before the police today.
