There have been reports for quite some time firebrand YSR Congress party leader and state tourism minister R K Roja might not get the party ticket again in the upcoming assembly elections in the state as various surveys commissioned by the party have not given her good marks.
Moreover, Roja has been facing alleged sabotage from her own party leaders in her own Nagari assembly constituency and also senior leaders from the adjacent constituencies, who had been poking their nose in her constituency.
Facing all these odds, Roja is struggling to see that she retains her seat and prove her worth. That is why, she is pulling out all stops to make the public meeting of party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy at Nagari on Monday (August 28) a grand success.
It is for the first time that Jagan has chosen to address a rally at Nagari. Apart from consolidating the party prospects in the constituency, it is also an opportunity for him to test the popularity of Roja and her winning prospects.
So, Roja is going all out to make it a big success. She has been camping in the constituency, making arrangements for the rally and holding meetings with her followers regularly to mobilise crowds to the meeting.
Though the officials are cooperating with Roja in making arrangements, she is said to be facing resistance from a section of party leaders in the crowd mobilisation, especially from the neighbouring areas.
“If she succeeds in bringing unprecedented crowds to the meeting, she is sure to win the confidence of the chief minister. But it remains to be seen how far the other party leaders would allow her to take the credit,” sources said.
