Reddy-Kamma Unity: A Rare Phenomenon In T-Elections

There is a need to address the dominant presence of the Kamma and Reddy social classes in Telugu politics.

Until KCR enthroned as the CM from Velama community, the political power frequently oscillates between these two castes, a fact that has raised questions among the marginalized classes regarding how these minority groups manage to retain their hold on power.

Pawan Kalyan also has previously highlighted this issue during the last election, urging support for his cause. Well, we know whose interests he is advocating for in this context. That's a different story!

It is evident that TDP represents the Kamma community, and Reddys represent the YCP in Andhra Pradesh and Congress in Telangana.  Readmore!

However, the BRS party in Telangana has allocated 42 seats to leaders from the Reddy community, compared to only five for the Kamma community.

The Congress party has also reserved a significant number of seats for the Reddy community, leaving the possibility of further Reddy representation in the remaining seats.

Interestingly, the Kamma community, which previously viewed the Congress party as a political rival, is now displaying enthusiasm for supporting the same party which has majority of Reddys contesting this time.

Similarly, in Telangana, the majority Reddy community also appears to be aligning with the Congress.

This unique political situation has triggered a debate, highlighting a new dynamic in the shared political landscape of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Kammas are angry that Telangana CM KCR and national BJP leaders caused discomfort to Chandrababu. Consequently, the Kamma segment of the population intends to vote for the Congress in the upcoming elections.

The Reddy community welcomes the support from the Kamma community, and it is widely believed that the rivalry between these groups is primarily political rather than personal.

Chandrababu's protégé, Revanth Reddy being the President of TPCC, the Kamma community lend their support without hesitation.

Kamma leaders are even prepared to provide financial support to the Congress in Telangana if necessary.

Meanwhile, although the BRS has predominantly fielded candidates from the Reddy community, there is growing dissatisfaction among them due to the frequent criticism and contentious rhetoric of KCR attacking YS Jagan's government of AP.

Assuming that KCR is showing his 'Dora-ism', there is a strong sentiment among the Reddy community to cast their votes for the Congress this time.

The current political climate in Telangana appears to be fostering a unification of the Reddy and Kamma social classes.
