Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy has landed in deep soup over his “dishwasher” comment against Telangana IT minister K T Rama Rao.
Uttam made the comment while criticizing KTR for making wild allegations him and the Congress party at a public meeting the other day.
He said KTR, who had done nothing but washing his dishes while in the United States, had absolutely no knowledge of the ground realities of Telangana and had come straightaway into politics taking advantage of his father K Chandrasekhar Rao’s movement.
KTR took a dig at Uttam for his “dishwasher” comment by tweeting that he was proud of doing it, unlike Uttam who had looted public money.
He recalled a news report of burnt cash of Rs 2.5 crore found in the backseat of Uttam’s car during 2014 elections.
He pointed out that even former US president Barak Obama washed dishes at his home.
Following KTR’s tweet, several TRS fans abroad also reacted strongly to the PCC chief’s comments. They demanded an immediate apology from Uttam for his comment.
“The PCC chief should come apologise to the NRIs for the disrespect he has showed towards us. Washing dishes and cleaning our own toilets is not a crime, it's a dignity of labour. It’s a common practice for most of the NRIs,” Mahesh Bigala, Telangana NRIs’ Forum leader said.
