Within a week of joining the YSR Congress party in the presence of party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy amidst huge media hype, popular Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu announced that he was resigning from the party.
“This is to inform everyone that I have decided to quit the YSRCP Party (sick) and stay out of politics for a little while. Further action will be conveyed in due course of time,” Rayudu tweeted at around 10.30 am, sending shockwaves among his followers and YSRCP cadres.
Rayudu, whose name was almost finalised for the Guntur parliamentary seat, was making preparations for the contest. He has already toured the constituency extensively in the last few months and prepared the ground for the contest.
But suddenly, he took the decision to quit the party and stay away from politics for some time, taking everybody by surprise with such sharp decision.
Known for his short-tempered nature, Rayudu is learnt to be carried away by the claim of sitting YSRCP MP from Narasaraopet Lavu Krishna Devarayalu that Jagan had asked him to contest from Guntur parliamentary seat but he had refused the same.
Krishna Devarayalu leaked to the media stating that he had rejected Jagan’s proposal and decided to stick to Narasaraopet LS constituency. The YSRCP leadership apparently wants to field a BC candidate from Narasaraopet and shift Lavu Krishna Devarayalu to Guntur or Vijayawada.
This is learnt to have upset Rayudu. He was reportedly angry as to why Jagan who had finalised the ticket for him, could offer the same to Krishna Devarayalu. He took it as an insult and decided to quit the party, sources said.
Maybe, he has realised that the chances of the YSRCP winning the Guntur seat are bleak and hence, Krishna Devarayalu is not interested in it!
