Privilege notice against 'those two dailies!'

When late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy was in power during the combined Andhra Pradesh regime, he used to target “aa rendu patrikalu” (those two newspapers) – referring to Eenadu and Andhra Jyothy, which were highly critical of his government in their stories pointing out to various irregularities.

In the residuary Andhra Pradesh, present chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has been mentioning about “Dushta Chatushtayam” (gang of four) – referring to his arch rival Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, his ‘adopted son’ Jana Sena president Pawan Kalyan and their pro-media houses – Eenadu and Andhra Jyothy. Of course, he is also targeting TV5, which is an out and out pro-TDP channel.

Now, the opposition parties in Telangana, too, have started targeting “aa rendu patrikalu” (those two dailies).

However, they are not Andhra Jyothy and Eenadu, but “Namaste Telangana” and Telangana Today,” which are considered to be the mouth pieces of ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi. Readmore!

On Saturday, Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Rajya Sabha member G V L Narasimha Rao gave a privilege notice in the Upper House against these two Telangana dailies for carrying false news against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He said though the Modi government at the Centre has been extending liberal financial assistance to the state through various schemes, the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments have been criticising the Centre saying they are not getting any money from Delhi.

GVL specifically targeted Telangana Rashtra Samithi working president K T Rama Rao for crossing his limits and foul-mouthing the Prime Minister.

He said the two dailies under the directions of the TRS bosses were making false allegations against the Centre.

He said the TRS leaders were making all sorts of comments against the BJP because they were afraid of its growing popularity.

“There is a danger to the democracy from the family-based parties. The Prime Minister has designed the election agenda for 2024 with a prime focus on getting the country rid of these dynastic parties,” he added.
