Police have arrested Vallabhaneni Vamsi, a senior leader of the YSR Congress Party and former MLA of Gannavaram.
He was taken into custody near Gannavaram and transferred to the Gannavaram Police Station.
Vamsi was arrested in connection with an attack on the Gannavaram TDP office.
He was intercepted while traveling from Hyderabad to Gannavaram and was arrested near his residence.
The police received information that Vamsi was traveling from Hyderabad to Gannavaram in different cars, prompting them to track him.
It was discovered that Vamsi was using a different mobile number, which led the police to spot his vehicle and arrest him near his home.
In the case related to the attack on the Gannavaram TDP office, Vamsi has been identified as Accused No. 71 (A71). So far, the police have arrested 21 people in this case.
Earlier today, there were rumors that Vamsi was not in Hyderabad and had gone to America. However, the police managed to track him down and arrest him near Gannavaram.
Vamsi is expected to undergo medical examinations and be presented in court shortly.
The police have already remanded 21 individuals in this case, and it remains to be seen whether they will reclassify Vamsi as A1 or keep him as A71.
If reclassified as A1, the police will have to submit a new memo to the court; otherwise, he will remain listed as A71.
