YSR Congress party on Monday ridiculed the desperate attempts of the Telugu Desam Party government in Andhra Pradesh headed by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu to woo the voters by announcing a series of sops with an eye on the ensuing elections.
YSRC MLA G Srikanth Reddy said the people would not get carried away by such sops being announced at the last minute, as they have already made up their mind to pull down the Naidu government in the next elections.
Reddy wondered by Naidu had suddenly woken up from slumber and started giving sops - from pensions to medicare, though he had been indifferent for the last four and a half years.
He pointed out that the so-called welfare schemes were nothing but a complete imitation of the promises made by YSRC party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy much earlier.
“The ruling TDP is scared of its fast eroding base and hence started announcing them. But the people have seen through the nature of Naidu who never keeps up his promise,” he said.
The YSRC MLA said Naidu might be making some announcements, but the TDP lacked commitment which all sections of people had seen for the past four and a half years.
“They are in no mood to fall for the publicity blitz,” he said.
He observed that Naidu had nothing to speak about his achievements but only betrayal would come to the fore and people can never forget nor forgive his indifference.
“After the cash for vote scam broke out, he had shifted the base in a hurry and is scared of KCR and Narendra Modi. He has kept a channel with BJP open by cultivating a few top leaders in the Party in case of any reverses,” he said.
