Two senior YSR Congress party leaders and ministers in Jagan Mohan Reddy cabinet – Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose and Mopidevi Venkataramana – will get elected as Rajya Sabha members, elections for which will be held on June 19.
At present, they are the legislative council members and since Jagan has decided to abolish the council, Pilli and Mopidevi would be losing their council membership. Since they cannot be continued in the cabinet, Jagan nominated them to Rajya Sabha.
As a parting honour for the outgoing ministers, the chief minister has taken a decision to depute them to present general budget and agriculture budgets in the state legislative council on Tuesday.
While Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose, who is also a deputy chief minister, will present the general budget in the council, Mopidevi will be presenting the agriculture budget in the council.
“This is a respectable send off to the two senior ministers who had served the state as ministers even during the regime of late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy,” a party leader said.
There would be a short discussion on the state budget in the assembly and council on Wednesday and after the minister’s reply, the budget would be approved and the appropriation bill be passed.
While there would be no assembly and council meetings on Thursday and they would reassemble on Friday to conduct elections for the Rajya Sabha.
