Malayalam cinema has been promising on the OTT. Many of the films from this industry are catching the attention of pan Indian audiences for the quality in making and the standards in narrating a story.
Now Manu Warrier's Kuruthi (Holy Slaughter) is the new offering on the Amazon Prime Video. The film arrived as an Independence Day release just before 4 days of the actual National Festival.
The film is all about the tussle between the two small groups of men. The entire film goes on in a single day. Though the pitch was set in an impressive way, the narration lacks the expected grip. The film is in fact driven by some current affairs and dealt with in a reasonable way.
The character of the antagonist in the film was not written in the way that it should be. The required villainy is not grooved in him. This is a fight between a Good Muslim and a Bad Muslim.
The bottomline is that it is engaging but will not leave you with any surprise or shock.
