Opinion: How Big Stars Are Killing Film Industry!

Sometimes the greed to squeeze more money from the people yields negative results. The heroes and top directors desired to hike up the ticket prices of their films and pleaded with the government until their desires were fulfilled. But the result must be shocking to them now.

I went to watch the 12:30 show in the Inorbit Mall on the first day of 'Sarkaru Vaari Paata'. I was shocked to see the first two rows empty. This never happens for big hero films in general.

I had a similar experience with the 'Acharya' first day show. The theatre didn't become housefull. I spent Rs 700 including Rs 350 for the ticket and the rest for a water bottle and a snack. Had I planned it with my entire family it would have cost me Rs 2000 or more.

The film heroes are killing their own industry by increasing the budget of the film-making by increasing their remunerations to exorbitant heights. When the films are coming in OTT within a month or 45 days, why would anybody spend thousands of rupees in theaters? Readmore!

The film industry has lost the middle class family audience with these ticket prices. The big star films made that class of audience alienate from the theater experience. Due to that they are not even thinking of watching a good film with mid range actors. The best example in this category is 'Ashokavanam Lo Arjuna Kalyanam'.

It is high time for big heroes to control their greed and save their own industry.
