Opinion: Gross Wastage Of Rs 10 Cr On Paper Ad

Optimum utilization of resources is a subject that matters to every field. When the world has gone digital and the majority people are seen spending their time peeping into their mobiles, why the government of Andhra Pradesh is still relying on spending Crores of rupees on full page paper Ads just to convey a message to the public.

A big explanation on the rise and fall of petrol prices, that was designed and released like an Ad in all the news dailies is stunning to my sensibilities. That was released in the name of Minister Buggana Rajendranath.

Had the Minister held a Press Meet and explained the scenario, the coverage would have been more exhaustive giving clarity to the general public. The details mentioned in tabular forms are confusing to the layman and there it fails the purpose in the first place. Confining it to News Dailies made it a limited or negligible reach wasting a huge amount of money to the tune of almost Rs 10 Cr.

On the other hand, if the government officials intended to release only in this format, then they would have opted the digital way. By spending 10% of the above mentioned amount the reach would have been definitely 10 times more. Why should the government spend big on small things? Readmore!

Social media platforms, websites and the TV channels on youtube are the only vastly used hubs by the general public for any kind of news. Leaving all these fertile areas and planting Rs 10 Cr only in the desert-like news dailies is a criminal wastage and reap no fruits.

Hope the officials mend their ways and think relevantly in tune with the modern world.
