Opinion: Audience Changed - Heroes Should Change

The taste of the audience has changed phenomenally. The reasons can be many. This can be attributed to the exposure to world cinema through OTT platforms and the over dose of daily entertainment through YouTube and social media.

They don't want something routine now. They are not the old type of audience who used to throw papers in theatres with the punch dialogues of heroes. They don't want routine mass masala heroism with three fights and four songs.

The evidence is clear. The films that have come on these lines were miserably toppled at the box office. Raviteja's 'Rama Rao On Duty', Ram's 'Warrior' and Nithiin's 'Macherla Niyojakavargam' flopped misrabely and went without traces.

On the other hand Kalyan Ram's socio fantasy 'Bimbisara', Dulqar's periodic concoction 'Sita Ramam' and Nikhil's mythological fiction 'Karthikeya 2' worked wonders at the box office. Readmore!

The audience evolved to a different level. The makers should try to make films that suit the taste of the audience. They want something not routine. That's the bottom line.

Our heroes should understand that gone are the days where the audience used to adore their favorite heroes by doing the routine stuff on the screen. We need innovative stories, intelligent script writers and new age directors. Only then the industry flourishes.

This is an open lesson not only for Tollywood film makers but for the makers in Bollywood as well.
