Contrary to the expectations that there would be domination of Reddys in the government of YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, the community will get only four berths in the cabinet.
According to YSR Congress party sources, there is a proportional representation to all the communities in the cabinet of Jagan.
As announced earlier, there would be five deputy chief ministers representing marginalised sections in the cabinet like SC, ST, BC, Kapu and Muslim minorities, which is considered to be a historic decision by Jagan.
Out of the 25 ministers, eight cabinet berths are being given to to BCs, five to SCs and one to ST, who account for 60 per cent of the entire cabinet of Jagan.
Besides, the chief minister also gave a lot of prominenceto Kapu Kapu community by allocating four cabinet berths.
While Reddys will get four berths, Kamma, Kshatriya and Vysya communities will get one berth each.
There is no representation to Brahmin community. Out of the two Brahmin MLAs in the party – Malladi Vishnu and Kona Raghupathi, one of them is likely to be made deputy speaker of the state assembly, sources said.
