Actor-producer Nutan Naidu, who shot to fame by participating in the Bigg Boss season-3, was arrested by the police at Udupi in Karnataka in connection with the tonsuring of Dalit at his residence in Pendurthi in Viskhapatnam district recently.
Visakhapatnam police commissioner Manish Kumar Sinha told reporters that Naidu had been produced in the local court at Udupi and sought the police custody.
“We shall bring him to Visakhapatnam for further interrogation,” Sinha said.
During the investigation, it was revealed that Nutan Naidu was also involved in cheating of people taking the name of retired IAS officer P V Ramesh, presently advisor to chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on medical and health issues.
“He made fake calls to doctors claiming himself to be Ramesh and blackmailed them. But when it was brought to the notice of the officer, he denied making the calls. When we tracked the calls, it was revealed that the calls came from the mobile number of Nutan Naidu,” he said.
The police had booked Nutan Naidu under SC/ST Act and after due interrogation, more cases would be booked against him.
The police had already arrested Nutan’s wife Priya Madhuri, the accused no. 1 in the Dalit tonsuring case. Along with her, six others were also arrested.
The police also seized six mobile phones having evidences about tonsuring, the police commissioner said.
