Nobel laureate all praise for Jagan scheme!

YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s welfare programmes might not have generated much interest in the national media, which is largely interested in picking holes in his governance.

But a Nobel laureate has lavished praises on Jagan’s flagship programme “Amma Vodi” describing it as a revolutionary programme.

Ninety-eight years old scientist John B Goodenough appreciated Amma Vodi programme, when an overseas education wing brought the scheme to his notice recently.

In a video message, Goodenough, who had won the Nobel prize in physics in 2019 for designing lithium-ion cathode batteries used in smartphones, lauded the idea of a financially beneficial scheme for educating children in a country like India.  Readmore!

This Nobel laureate who is familiar of the Indian conditions opined that many children in the country want to be educated, but due to the lack of financial assistance and the infrastructure, the children were compelled to drop out from studies. 

However, he said that with the government's bringing such schemes like Amma Vodi would help the literacy rate in India. 

The AP government has introduced the Amma Vodi scheme to provide financial assistance for the mother who sends their wards to the schools.
