Thanks to the Covid 19 pandemic, the students in Andhra Pradesh would have no Sundays and no summer vacation this year.
The state government had released the 2021-22 academic calendar fixing the academic schedule for the schools and junior colleges for this academic year to cover up what was lost in 2020-21 academic year.
The junior colleges in AP would have 106 working days from Monday, January 18, to cover up the academic year that was lost.
The classes would be held from January 18 to May 31 including second Saturdays for all first year intermediate students. However, the senior Intermediate classes would start from June 3.
The state government had also fixed 103-day academic calendar for the Class 10 students. The students would have 8 periods every day from 8.45 am to 4.30 pm.
Classes for the 10th students would be held on all days except festivals and national holidays. Sundays would have half-day classes.
The Upper Primary classes for 6th standard would have 106 working days on alternative days.
The students of other classes would be promoted to the higher class basing on their performance in the previous year – post-Covid 19 season.
While the state government hopes to resume the academic year from June 3 for all courses and classes across the state, the tight schedule fixed now was aimed at compensating the academic year that was halted in 2020 March due to Covid 19.
This would mean a tough schedule for the students and teachers in the state where they would be missing the Sundays and other holidays, including summer vacation.
