If one were to go by the allegations of YSR Congress Party senior leader and Rajya Sabha member V Vijay Sai Reddy, there are no jobs for locals in Kia Motors, the prestigious cars factory set up by the Korean automobile giant near Hindupur in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh.
Sai Reddy challenged Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu to disclose the details of employees who were provided jobs in the recently launched Kia Motors.
“The fact is that no jobs are created for the locals in the automobile company which has been allotted huge extent of lands and given financial incentives worth crores of rupees to set up the unit,” the YSRC leader alleged.
Sai Reddy came down heavily on Naidu for allegedly making false statements on farmers’ suicides in Andhra Pradesh.
While the official figures said 2,000 farmers had committed suicide in the last four years, the chief minister had maintained that not a single forceful death case was reported in the state, he pointed out.
Sai Reddy said that the YSR Congress MPs would meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and appraise him of the issue of special status and the injustice meted out to Andhra by not fulfilling the promise made in the Parliament at the time of 2014 elections.
