Jagan hits back at Naidu for first time

Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy had returned the criticism of former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, for the first time.

The chief minister had been maintaining absolute silence on politics and restrained from counter attack on his critics ever since he took over on May 30.

He had addressed four public meetings in his last four months in office, but had never made political statements or never responded to his critics, particularly to the criticism of Chandrababu Naidu.

However, he broke open at a meeting held in Eluru where he launched the YSR Vahana Mitra scheme to benefit the auto and taxi drivers.

After launching the scheme, Jaganmohan Reddy made an appeal to the people to keep an eye on the politicians who were working against him.

“I have been working hard to convert all my promises into reality. But, you see, people like Chandrababu Naidu are spreading false campaign against the government. It is a clear political conspiracy,” Jaganmohan Reddy said.

He referred to the allegation of Chandrababu Naidu that the government had allowed liquor sales on Gandhi Jayanthi.

Jaganmohan Reddy said that he had closed over 4,500 belt shops, had brought down the number of liquor shops and reduced the sales time, besides increasing the prices only to motivate people against alcohol consumption.

“When these are the facts, Chandrababu Naidu is making baseless allegations against the government,” Jaganmohan Reddy said and wanted to know whether the people have found the liquor sales on October 2.

The chief minister cautioned the people against conspiracy politics of Chandrababu Naidu and asked them to keep such people away from public life.
