Naidu just an MLA, can't decide on elections!

Bharatiya Janata Party’s Rajya Sabha member Y S Chowdary alias Sujana Chowdary on Wednesday took pot shots at his former boss N Chandrababu Naidu for predicting simultaneous polls in the next three years.

Sujana Chowdary, who defected from the TDP to BJP three months ago, was reacting to Naidu’s comments on the possibility of holding simultaneous polls to the states and the Centre across the country in 2022.

The TDP chief, addressing a party meeting at Guntur, said Jagan could be CM only for three years as there would be simultaneous polls.

“I have no idea about the Centre’s plans to hold simultaneous polls. In any case, such decisions will not be taken at the level of former chief ministers. Naidu is just an MLA and he is nobody to decide on when to hold elections,” Sujana said, speaking to reporters after submitting a memorandum to Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan.

Chowdary also found fault with the Naidu government for delaying the construction of Polavaram project.

“The erstwhile Kiran Kumar Reddy government has neglected the Polavaram project. During the TDP regime, it has gone out of track due to inordinate delay. Now, the YSRC government is also deliberately delaying the project with its rigid attitude, ignoring the Centre’s warnings,” he said.

Stating that the delay in completion of the project would result in a crop loss of Rs 10,000 crore, Sujana Chowdary said the YSRC government cannot save even five rupees through reverse tendering process.

“If the situation continues like this, the Centre will intervene in the matter,” he warned.
