Why Didn't Kia Motors Invite Naidu?

The Telugu Desam Party leaders in Andhra Pradesh are said to be terribly upset with the management of Kia Motors India for not inviting their boss and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu for the official launch of its first car Seltos at its manufacturing unit at Penugonda in Anantapur on Thursday.

A senior TDP leader from Anantapur felt that the Kia Motors management should have extended an invitation to Naidu at least as a matter of courtesy, though he might not turn up at the event since they had invited YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and his cabinet colleagues.

“After all, the company was able to establish its first manufacturing unit in Andhra Pradesh only because of the efforts of Chandrababu Naidu, who had extended several incentives to the company like land, water and electricity. They should have at least spoken to him and extended an invitation to him for the official launch of the first car,” he said.

What the TDP leader has forgotten that the companies deal with the governments and not individuals. Naidu might have been responsible for bringing Kia to AP, but he had done it in the capacity of Andhra chief minister and not in his individual capacity.

So, the Kia Motors have been dealing with Andhra Pradesh government and not Naidu as such. Since Naidu is no more in power, the company is dealing with Jagan Mohan Reddy, an analyst argued.

Nevertheless, the TDP leaders successfully managed to spread the message through social media that the credit for Kia goes to Naidu.

The hashtag #ThankYouCBNForKia has been trending in Twitter since morning, as the TDP supporters took advantage of Jagan’s absence at the launch function.

Naidu also tweeted extending his warm and hearty wishes to Kia Motors for the launch of the first car in India. He wished that the company will create a new trend in the automobile sector.
