Why has Kanna turned anti-Jagan so fast?

It is just a month since the YSR Congress party led by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy formed the government in Andhra Pradesh and it will take at least a couple of months for the new government to stabilise.

But the opposition parties have already started firing salvos at the Jagan government.

Well, one can understand the Telugu Desam Party led by N Chandrababu Naidu making some critical comments against the government, because it has lost power to the YSRC in the recent elections.

But, surprisingly, the Bharatiya Janata Party has started attacking Jagan Reddy. Especially, BJP state president Kanna Lakhsminarayana, who appeared to be soft in the beginning, has now been making aggressive comments against the YSRC government.

First, he questioned Jagan’s hasty decision on demolition of Praja Vedika, a conference hall constructed on the banks of Krishna river.

He found fault with the chief minister for ordering its demolition on the ground that it was an illegal construction.

“Instead of demolishing, Jagan could have used it for other public purposes. Why is he wasting public money? More than Rs 8 crore has gone down the drain,” he alleged.

In his latest attack on Jagan, Kanna made strong comments against YSRC stating that it was indulging in violence to prove its supremacy.

“The YSRC activists are assaulting rival party workers, demolishing the party flags and platforms. In Guntur district, the YSRC workers demolished at least four BJP platforms,” he alleged.

He went to the extent of equating the YSRC with the TDP.

“During the TDP regime, too, there were attacks on the political rivals. Now, YSRC is repeating the same. There is no difference between the two parties,” he alleged.

One wonders why Kanna is so hasty in attacking the YSRC government. Apparently, he is trying to prove the identity of the BJP in the state, though it did not win even a single assembly or Lok Sabha seat.

Secondly, he also wants to establish that it is going to be the BJP and not the TDP which will be the main opposition to the YSRC.

So, Kanna seems to be preparing the ground for the growth of BJP as an alternative force to the YSRC. But, he has forgotten was that any such hasty criticism will only prove counter productive to the BJP. It is still a long way to go for Jagan.

Why Kanna is in such a hurry?
