Behind The Scene: What post will Roja get?

The news that YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has sent a message to firebrand party MLA from Nagari R K Roja asking her to meet him at Amaravati has triggered several speculations.

Roja had been sulking ever since her name did not figure in the list of cabinet ministers finalised by Jagan for swearing-in on June 8.

She reportedly broke down after being denied the berth and left for her constituency in a huff, without attending the swearing-in ceremony.

On Tuesday, Jagan sent a message to her through party general secretary V Vijay Sai Reddy, asking her to come to Amaravati and meet him.

Roja, who left Nagari in the morning, is expected to meet the chief minister in the evening.

Apparently, Jagan has decided to make her a couple of offers – chairperson of AP Mahila Commission or AP State Road Transport Corporation. However, Roja is said to be not interested in both the posts.

First, Mahila Commission chairperson is just an ornamental post and has no statutory powers. Except that it has facilities associated with any corporation chairperson post, there is no charm in it.

Secondly, she is also not keen on APSRTC chairperson post, though it is a powerful post with a lot of facilities and also scope for making big money, it also brings a lot of headache with it like pressure from unions and lobbying by other politicians.

Moreover, she is apprehensive that the corporation might not be continued for long, as it is going to be merged with the government sooner or later.

May be, Roja will be offered posts like AP Tourism Development Corporation or AP Film and Theatre Development Corporation posts.

Let us wait and see what she will get and how she reacts.
