Won't tolerate corruption, Jagan tells seniors!

The massive victory of the YSR Congress party in the just concluding assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh has led to the talk that many party leaders, if not all, might be looking for making big money in the next five years.

If there are any such leaders, they would be in for a big disappointment, as YSRC president and chief minister-designate Y S Jaganmohan Reddy categorically cautioned them against entertaining any such idea.

He made some serious comments at the party’s legislature and parliamentary party meetings held at the party headquarters in Tadepalli on Saturday that he will not hesitate to take stern action against those indulging in corruption.

“Even if one single instance of corruption by any leader that comes to my notice, it will be the last day for him in the party. I don’t need such leaders in my party, even if they are my own kin,” Jagan said, specifically looking into the eyes of senior party leaders close to his family.

He said his party was already carrying the stigma of corruption as there have been cases foisted by the Central Bureau of Investigation seven years ago.

“Even if there is one allegation of corruption, it will lend credence to the allegations made in the past. So, never ever indulge in any activity that brings bad name to me and the party,” Jagan said.

However, one wonders how practical it is for any political leader to remain non-corrupt these days. All the YSRC leaders had to spend huge amounts in the elections and they would definitely try to make use of the power to make money.

It will be good for the party and Jagan, if the party leaders do not indulge in indiscriminate corruption at all levels.

After all, Chandrababu Naidu had to pay a heavy penalty for remaining blind to the massive corruption indulged in by party leaders in the name of Janma Bhoomi committees!
