The unexpected visit of Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu to Ramoji Film City for less than two hours on Wednesday afternoon raised many eyebrows.
Naidu landed at a private helipad in RFC at 11.45. He was received by media baron Ramoji Rao and his son Kiran.
He straightaway drove to Ramoji’s residence atop a hillock in the film city and stayed there till 1.20 pm. He returned to the helipad at 1.30 and went back straight to his Vundavalli residence.
It means Naidu had hardly spent less than one and a half hours at Ramoji Rao’s residence.
May he had his lunch there but what transpired between the two has kicked up more curiosity. Since there was no other function at Ramoji’s place, it could have definitely be a talk on the contemporary politics.
According to speculations that were doing rounds in a section of media circles, Naidu is understood to have explained to Ramoji Rao that the chances of TDP returning to power were bleak.
However, what worries him is the possibility of YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy luring the elected TDP MLAs into his party, so as to finish off the party, on the lines of Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao’s strategy in Telangana to decimate the Congress party.
Apparently, Naidu is learnt to have sought the advice of Ramoji in preventing large scale defection of TDP MLAs into the YSRC.
He also requested the media baron to play a very important role in exposing the YSRC government, while sustaining the campaign in favour of the TDP.
There is also another speculation in circulation. Ramoji Rao himself has called Naidu for a meeting to discuss the strategy in the post-poll scenario.
Since the TDP is unlikely to come power in the state, the media baron reportedly suggested Naidu to move his base to Delhi in the event of a pro-Congress coalition government at the Centre and play a bigger role there.
It is learnt Naidu would have to sustain his image at the national level at this stage and if he wastes his energy fighting Jagan in the assembly, it would not fetch him much benefit, Ramoji is learnt to have told Naidu.
