Winter Session To Heat Up Andhra Assembly!

The winter session of the Andhra Pradesh state assembly which began on Monday is all set to witness the heated atmosphere with both the ruling YSR Congress party and opposition Telugu Desam Party.

The opposition is planning to corner the ruling party by raising issues like onion prices and steep hike in the RTC bus fares, while the ruling party is all set to launch a counter-attack on the TDP on how it ruined the financial position of the state during its regime.

Interestingly, except Andhra Jyothy, two other major dailies -- Eenadu and Sakshi did not focus on the importance of the winter session. Andhra Jyothy report is a sort of alert to the TDP stating that the YSRC would go all out to demoralize the TDP and bulldoze the discussions by focusing on implementation of Navaratnas.

Eenadu carried a small curtain raiser, but focused on the issues that could come up for discussion in the assembly session – like abnormal increase in onion prices despite the market intervention by the state government; and also, the criticism from various sections of people on the increase in RTC bus fares, stating that it would impose Rs 700 crore burden on the common man.

Sakshi carried a pointer story on the major bills and issues that could come up for discussion in the state assembly.

However, the banner story for all the three major dailies in the fire accident in Delhi in which 43 people died of suffocation. They gave extensive coverage of the news along with the pictures.

Eenadu carried a positive story on Jagan government, stating how YSR Kapu Nestham is going to benefit six lakh people, as money is going to be deposited in the accounts of beneficiaries by March.

This apart, the daily also published a human interesting story of a Muslim widow from Kurnool, whose two children have been suffering from mysterious neural diseases. Apparently, the news is aimed at attracting the attention of chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, who could help the family with some assistance.

Of course, Eenadu continues to be obsessed with Jana Sena Party Pawan Kalyan. There was an anchor story on Pawan asking Jagan to take up Padayatra now for the same of farmers, instead of votes.

Andhra Jyothy, as usual, carried a negative story on painting of village secretariats and other buildings and even pillars with YSRC party colour and wondered whether they would all have to remove the colour during the local body elections.’

Sakshi carried a report on how students in welfare hostels are getting ready for the Class X examinations, thanks to the study material and other facilities provided by the state government.
