At last, KCR meets Governor Tamilisai!

After a gap of nearly 80 days, Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao met Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan at Raj Bhavan on Monday afternoon.

According to official sources, KCR sought an appointment with the Governor for a meeting and she agreed for the same.

Apparently, KCR was alerted by the reports that the Governor had submitted a report to the Centre on the ongoing strike of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) employees and the proposed move of the government to privatise the transport.

The TRS president sought to brief her on the ongoing developments in the state following the RTC strike and explain her why his government wanted to go in for privatisation.

He would explain to her the steps to be taken by the government on resolving the crisis in the RTC.

At the same time, KCR would also explain to her his government’s proposed move to amend the existing Revenue Act in order to streamline the system and eradicate corruption. He needs the Governor’s assent for the crucial act, hence the meeting.

This is for the first time that KCR had met Tamilisai after she assumed charge as the Governor on September 8 in place of E S L Narasimhan, who had been in the gubernatorial post for nearly a decade.

After that, he did not make even a single attempt to meet her, though Pragathi Bhavan is hardly a kilometre away from Raj Bhavan. This was never the situation in the past.

When Narasimhan was the Governor, KCR used to be a regular visitor to Raj Bhavan at least twice a month.

At the same time, Narasimhan used to give a lot of importance to KCR and the latter had a smooth relationship with the Centre during the Modi-1 regime only because of Narasimhan who submitted reports to the Centre in favour of the KCR government.

But ever since Tamilisai took over as the Governor, the relations between Pragati Bhavan and Raj Bhavan are not so smooth.

While KCR has been avoiding going to Raj Bhavan even for courtesy sake, the TRS leaders, too, have been staying away from her.
