After months of speculation and anticipation, the makers of Ramayana have finally unveiled the first glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama — and the visuals have instantly grabbed attention.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the ambitious mythological epic is being positioned as one of the biggest and most expensive films ever attempted in Indian cinema.
In the teaser, Ranbir appears in a divine and majestic avatar, giving fans their first proper look at him as Maryada Purushottam Rama.
The visuals are rich, grand, and clearly designed on a massive scale, signalling that the film is aiming for a larger-than-life cinematic experience.
While the teaser mainly focuses on Rama’s journey, it also offers brief glimpses of Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, and the world of Ravana, who is being played by Yash.
The film also features Sunny Deol as Hanuman, adding further star power to the already huge cast.
Produced by Namit Malhotra, Ramayana is planned as a two-part franchise, with the first instalment set for a Diwali release this year.
The project is reportedly being mounted on a massive budget, with the overall cost of the two-part saga said to be around â¹4,000 crore, while the first part alone is believed to have a budget of over â¹800 crore.
With such scale, the film is expected to be a VFX-heavy mythological spectacle.
The teaser, titled Ramayana: The Introduction, has already sparked excitement among movie lovers, especially for the way it presents Ranbir Kapoor in an entirely new and spiritually powerful avatar.
Apart from the lead cast, the film is also said to feature Amitabh Bachchan, Bobby Deol, Rakul Preet Singh, and several other well-known names.
With its scale, star cast, and mythological appeal, Ramayana is clearly shaping up to be one of the most talked-about Indian films in recent times.
