Big Challenge For Aditya Dhar Ahead: Versatality Issue

Aditya Dhar has largely built his writing career around themes such as terrorism, current affairs, crime, and geopolitical tensions.

Interestingly, he has rarely stepped outside this zone. Even the two films he directed, Uri: The Surgical Strike and Dhurandhar, revolve around similar subjects linked to national security and political conflict.

Looking at his work beyond these popular titles, Dhar also wrote Article 370, a political drama that follows an undercover mission led by Zooni Haksar, played by Yami Gautam.

Another project written by him is Baramulla, released in 2025, which centres on a police officer in Kashmir and his investigation into a complex case. Readmore!

He also penned Dhoom Dhaam, a film built around an unexpected case of mistaken identity, with elements of suspense and intrigue woven into the narrative.

The bigger question now being discussed is whether Aditya Dhar can step out of this familiar territory where he has already proved his expertise.

Can he deliver a successful film by writing or directing in a completely different genre?

Many top filmmakers such as S S Rajamouli and Rajkumar Hirani have explored diverse subjects and styles across their careers.

Even Aditya Dhar’s mentor, Ram Gopal Varma, experimented with multiple genres and found success at different points in his journey.

Whether Aditya Dhar will eventually break out of his comfort zone and showcase his versatility has now become an interesting topic of discussion in film circles.
