Ever since the trailer for Power Star Pawan Kalyan’s much-awaited action entertainer Ustaad Bhagat Singh dropped yesterday, the digital space has been buzzing, with the video already crossing 15 million views.
The trailer clearly suggests that the film heavily relies on Pawan Kalyan’s characterization. Though he plays a police officer and an IPS officer, the trailer shows him handling everything — comedy, punch dialogues, romance and action.
Director Harish Shankar appears to have followed a template similar to what he did with Gabbar Singh. In that blockbuster too, Pawan Kalyan played a police officer.
The Antyakshari scene in the police station, the songs and the romance with Shruti Haasan added strong entertainment value and helped the film become a massive hit.
Interestingly, it took more than a decade for Pawan Kalyan and Harish Shankar to reunite after Gabbar Singh.
The trailer of Ustaad Bhagat Singh gives the impression that the director has not attempted anything drastically new. Instead, he seems to have packaged the film mainly to appeal to fans, focusing on entertainment and the hero’s characterization.
One dialogue in the trailer says that every time Pawan Kalyan makes a comeback, magic happens. Chiranjeevi also praised the trailer on social media, saying that the “magic has worked.”
However, the real question is whether the Gabbar Singh magic will truly repeat itself when Ustaad Bhagat Singh hits theatres.
