Hansika Divorces Husband, Refuses Alimony

Actor Hansika Motwani and businessman Sohael Khaturiya have officially divorced, with a family court in Bandra, Mumbai granting the decree, her lawyer Adnan Shaikh confirmed.

Speculation about trouble in the marriage had surfaced last August when social media was flooded with rumours that the couple had been living separately for some time.

Hansika, known for films such as Aap Kaa Surroor, Oru Kal Oru Kannadi and My Name Is Shruthi, married Sohael Khaturiya in December 2022 in a lavish ceremony at Mundota Fort and Palace in Jaipur.

Confirming the development, her lawyer said the divorce was granted by mutual consent after both parties acknowledged that the marriage had irretrievably broken down. Readmore!

“Our client, Hansika Motwani, has been granted a decree of divorce by the Hon’ble Family Court in Bandra. The separation was amicable, and both parties agreed that the marriage had reached an irreparable stage,” the lawyer said.

He added that Hansika had initially approached her husband seeking an amicable separation, which eventually led to the divorce decree after both parties submitted their consent before the court.

Importantly, the actor chose not to seek any alimony or financial settlement.

“Our client has made no claim for alimony or maintenance. Her only intention was to bring a dignified and peaceful closure to the marriage,” the lawyer clarified.

Hansika now plans to focus on her personal life and professional commitments.

The couple had tied the knot on December 4, 2022. Earlier that year, Sohael had proposed to Hansika in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, a moment the actress had shared on Instagram with the caption “Now and Forever.”

Last year, Hansika deleted her wedding pictures from Instagram, which further fuelled rumours about a possible separation. The actress, however, has not yet publicly commented on the divorce.
