Ex-MP desperate to return to YSRCP, Jagan ignores

Former YSR Congress party MP from Visakhapatnam M V V Satyanarayana, once considered an influential leader during the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy regime and has gone into political oblivion after the party’s debacle in 2024 elections, is reportedly making renewed attempts to return to active party politics.

Sources, however, said Jagan is not keen on entertaining him again and has reportedly asked the party leaders in Visakhapatnam to completely ignore him.

Satyanarayana, who represented Visakhapatnam in Parliament from 2019 to 2024, enjoyed considerable prominence when the YSRCP was in power in Andhra Pradesh.

During this period, he was believed to have expanded his business empire significantly, further strengthening his financial and political influence. Readmore!

However, his political fortunes began to decline after the YSRCP’s defeat in the 2024 assembly elections, in which he had unsuccessfully contested from Visakhapatnam (east) constituency.

After the defeat Satyanarayana gradually distanced himself from party activities and grassroots workers.

Even when Jagan visited Visakhapatnam on several occasions after the elections, Satyanarayana reportedly avoided meeting him, leading to speculation about strained relations between the two.

He has been confined to his real estate business activities in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam.

At the same time, Satyanarayana was facing mounting controversies.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) initiated an investigation against him in late 2024 in connection with an alleged land-grabbing case involving about 12.5 acres of government land in Visakhapatnam.

The legal troubles reportedly added to his political isolation within the party.

Now, sources said Satyanarayana is trying to get back into active YSRCP politics in Vizag.

During the recent visit of Jagan to a wedding event in Visakhapatnam, Satyanarayana made a surprising appearance and tried to get the attention of the boss.

However, Jagan had not even looked at Satyanarayana, let alone engaging in conversation. Sources said Jagan is not interested in entertaining Satyanarayana’s overtures.

Within the party, there is also a perception that leaders who remained inactive or distanced themselves during the difficult period after the electoral defeat may not easily regain the confidence of the leadership.

As a result, despite his recent efforts to reconnect with the party, Satyanarayana appears to be struggling to regain his earlier influence in the YSRCP.
