SC Refuses to Stop Survey on BRS MLAs' Lands

The Supreme Court has refused to intervene in a land survey dispute involving Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders and MLAs Chamakura Malla Reddy (Medchal) and Marri Rajasekhar Reddy (Malkajgiri), dealing a setback to the two leaders.

A division bench comprising Justices Prashant Kumar Mishra and N.V. Anjaria heard a petition filed by former minister Malla Reddy challenging earlier orders of the Telangana High Court related to a disputed land survey in Jeedimetla, Quthbullapur mandal of Medchal district.

The Supreme Court ruled that it could not interfere in the matter since the land survey had already been completed. It upheld the orders passed by a single judge of the Telangana High Court concerning the 2.22-acre land parcel in Survey No. 82 at Jeedimetla.

Earlier, Malla Reddy had approached the High Court alleging that revenue authorities conducted the survey without issuing proper notices through the Quthbullapur tahsildar and sought a stay on the process. Readmore!

However, the High Court refused to grant a stay. Challenging that decision, Malla Reddy and Marri Rajasekhar Reddy moved the Supreme Court, which has now endorsed the High Court’s view.

The dispute arose after an individual, Srinivas Reddy, accused the two leaders of encroaching on his land. He alleged that 33 guntas of land in Survey Nos. 82 and 83 at Suchitra Centre were occupied during Malla Reddy’s tenure as a minister and sought action from the government.

Following the complaint, revenue officials conducted an official survey on December 9 last year under heavy police security. During the survey, supporters of the two MLAs gathered at the site but were prevented from entering by the police, ensuring the process was carried out without disruption.

With the Supreme Court declining to intervene, the High Court’s orders and the completed land survey remain in force, marking a legal setback for the BRS leaders in the ongoing dispute.
