YSR Congress party has once again raised a lot of concerns over the security arrangements made for party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy during his recent district tours.
YSRCP organising secretary Talasila Raghuram has written to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, seeking an inquiry into alleged “glaring security deficiencies” during Jagan’s recent visits across districts.
In the letter, Raghuram alleged that the state government was showing negligence in providing adequate security cover to the former chief minister, who is currently entitled to Z-plus category protection.
According to the complaint, significant security lapses were noticed during Jagan’s recent travel from Tadepalli to Ibrahimpatnam. The party alleged that the standard route of approximately 22 kilometres was abruptly changed to a 47-kilometre stretch without any clear justification.
It also claimed that security personnel were not informed in advance about the change in the return route. He said the alternative route suggested for Jagan was highly congested and unsuitable for a VVIP with Z-plus security cover.
“Such sudden and unplanned route changes, the party argued, weaken established security protocols and could potentially expose the protectee to risks,” he said.
The YSRCP further alleged that these decisions were being implemented without prior security assessment or written communication, creating avoidable complications.
It maintained that this was not an isolated incident and that similar decisions had been taken in the past as well, raising concerns over the consistency of security arrangements.
The party urged the Union Home Ministry to conduct a detailed inquiry into the alleged lapses and to take appropriate measures to ensure robust security arrangements for Jagan during his public tours and political programmes.
