What happened to Amaravati Quantum Valley project?

Six months ago, Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu made a grandiose announcement that the Amaravati Quantum Valley National Workshop is set to commence in Vijayawada from January 1.

Naidu claimed that it would be India’s first dedicated hub for quantum computing and technology in Amaravati and it to position Andhra Pradesh and India as global leaders in this cutting-edge field.

As part of this, the State government engaged with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), and International Business Machines (IBM) to explore potential partnerships and strategies for establishing a quantum computing hub.

The Naidu government signed agreements with industry giants IBM, TCS, and Larsen & Toubro (L&T) to establish India’s first ‘Quantum Valley Technological Park’ in Amaravati. The MoUs also outline the roles of each partner in building a robust quantum ecosystem. Readmore!

The state government has allocated Rs 4,000 crore over five years for the development of Quantum Valley, aligning with India’s Rs 6,000-crore National Quantum Mission launched in 2023.

The mission is structured in two phases: the first (2025–2027) will focus on infrastructure development, education, and pilot programmes, while the second (2027–2030) will drive commercialisation and exports.

However, there has been no development on this front, even after two weeks of commencement of the New Year. There is no clarity on where the project will come up exactly and when.

While Naidu is busy spending time with his family for Sankranti celebrations in his native village Naravaripalle, deputy CM Pawan Kalyan is engaged in various activities in Pithapuram.

There is no word from the government as to when and where the quantum valley project is coming up.

Soon after his return from his native village, Naidu will be flying to Davos in Switzerland to attend the World Economic Forum meeting. Maybe, there is some development on the Quantum Valley front after he returns.
