Thalapathy Vijay is set to return to the big screen one last time with his final film, Jana Nayagan.
The political action thriller marks Vijay’s farewell to cinema, as he has announced his decision to quit acting and focus full-time on politics and public service.
Fittingly titled Jana Nayagan (People’s Leader), the film symbolises Vijay’s transition from superstar to political leader.
While the film marks the end of his acting career, Vijay has ensured a record-breaking exit.
Reports suggest that the actor has charged a massive fee for Jana Nayagan, surpassing even top Indian superstars like Shah Rukh Khan, Prabhas and Salman Khan.
According to a post by Movie Tamil on X (formerly Twitter), Jana Nayagan is being made on a huge budget of Rs 380 crore, making it one of the most expensive films in Tamil cinema.
Director H. Vinoth is said to have received Rs 25 crore, while music director Anirudh Ravichander reportedly earned Rs 13 crore.
The biggest talking point, however, is Vijay’s remuneration.
Reports claim that Thalapathy Vijay took home a staggering Rs 220 crore, making him the highest-paid actor for a single film in recent times. In comparison, Bobby Deol and Pooja Hegde were reportedly paid Rs 3 crore each.
With Jana Nayagan, Vijay has crossed his own previous records. He reportedly earned Rs 200 crore for GOAT (Greatest Of All Time). Earlier, he charged Rs 110–125 crore for Varisu and Rs 120 crore for Leo in 2023.
In comparison, Shah Rukh Khan’s highest reported fee was Rs 200 crore for Jawan (excluding profit sharing). Prabhas is said to have charged Rs 160–200 crore for Spirit, while Salman Khan reportedly earned Rs 120 crore for Sikandar. By these figures, Vijay has clearly surged ahead of all his contemporaries.
