Firebrand Leader's BJP Plan Fuels AP Political Buzz

In Andhra Pradesh, the TDP-led coalition government—comprising the TDP, Jana Sena, and BJP—is currently in power and is expected to continue for more than three years.

For politicians who are thinking strategically, joining the ruling coalition appears to be a safe and attractive option.

For those who have no scope in the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), or who have distanced themselves from it, these three parties are now seen as the main alternatives.

Among them, many leaders who do not find space in the TDP or Jana Sena are looking towards the BJP as their next option. Readmore!

In this context, strong rumours are circulating that firebrand YSRCP leader Duvvada Srinivas, who belongs to a powerful community in Srikakulam district, is eyeing a move to the BJP.

Duvvada Srinivas was recently suspended by the YSRCP. However, he continues to hold his MLC position, as he has not been disqualified. Because of this, he is still nurturing hopes of a comeback within the party.

That said, many are debating whether the YSRCP leadership would take him back, especially when the Dhamana brothers already play a crucial role for the party in Srikakulam district.

The question being asked is whether the party would sideline them to accommodate Duvvada Srinivas. If that does not happen, it is being said that Duvvada already has a “Plan B” in place.

Sources say that Duvvada is keen on contesting as an MP from Srikakulam in the 2029 elections. There is talk that he believes joining the BJP could help turn this ambition into reality.

The BJP is keen to increase its MP tally, and if the Kinjarapu family stays away from the MP race next time, the TDP may be willing to allocate the Srikakulam seat to the BJP as part of the alliance arrangement.

With the backing of a national party, support from the ruling coalition, and the strength of his own community, Duvvada is said to be confident of winning the MP seat and entering Parliament. There is also strong demand within his community that the MP seat should go to them this time.

Considering these political and social calculations, speculation is rife that Duvvada Srinivas believes embracing the saffron party could be the best option for his future.

Whether this move will actually happen remains to be seen, but the buzz around him “donning the saffron robe” is only growing louder.
