Superstar Rajinikanth is actively exploring options for his next film as he weighs his choices for upcoming projects.
He is currently busy with Nelson Dilipkumar’s Jailer 2, with the shoot nearing completion.
Looking ahead to 2026, Rajinikanth plans to begin a new project that will be produced by his close friend and legendary actor Kamal Haasan.
While Rajinikanth will play the lead role, Kamal Haasan will bankroll the film.
Earlier, director Lokesh Kanagaraj was reportedly considered for the project, but following the underwhelming response to Coolie, the collaboration did not materialize.
Subsequently, Sundar C was announced as the director but later exited the project.
At present, Rajinikanth has been holding meetings with several young and promising directors from both the Tamil and Telugu film industries.
He has reportedly interacted with Ashwath Marimuthu of Dragon fame, Abhishan, known for Tourist Family, and Ramkumar Balakrishnan, who directed Parking.
He has also heard story narrations from Telugu director Gopichand Malineni and is said to be open to meeting more filmmakers from Telugu cinema.
With plans to announce his retirement in the next couple of years, Rajinikanth aims to wrap up at least two to three more films before bidding farewell to the big screen.
