Popular Telugu film actor Allu Arjun has been named as accused number 11 (A-11) in connection with the stampede like situation at Sandhya Theatre during the screening of the benefit show of his film “Pushpa-2: The Rule” on December 4, 2024.
The Hyderabad police have filed a charge sheet in a local court to this effect, naming Allu Arjun as A-11. The charge sheet also named his managers, personal security personnel and bouncers as co-accused in the case.
The Sandhya 70 MM theatre incident claimed the life of a 35-year-old woman M Revathi and crippled the life of her nine-year-old son Sri Tej.
Disclosing this to reporters on Saturday, Hyderabad police commissioner V C Sajjannar said the police had conducted a comprehensive investigation into the Sandhya Theatre stampede incident.
“The investigation has been completed and we filed the charge sheet in the court on December 24 this year,” he said.
In all, as many as 23 accused persons were named in the charge sheet in the case.
“Of these, 14 accused were arrested, while nine accused, who obtained anticipatory bail, were served notices,” he said.
Sajjannar said the investigation established lapses in planning, crowd management, security arrangements, and coordination among the theatre management, event organisers, private security personnel, and others involved during the incident.
