'Avatar: Fire And Ash': What Early Reviews Say!

The film "Avatar: Fire And Ash" is screened in USA and with the early reviews, it can be understood that there are mixed opinions, where someone mentions it has emerged as one of the year’s most disappointing ventures, despite massive expectations while others praise the film for some reasons.

BBC sharply criticised it, calling it “197 minutes of screensaver graphics, clunky dialogue, baggy plotting and hippy-dippy new-age spirituality,” and suggested James Cameron should quit while ahead.

The review noted that the film fails to work as a standalone story, feels overlong and self-indulgent and lacks the excitement and novelty of the original Avatar.

Variety critic Owen Gleiberman viewed Fire and Ash more positively, calling it better than The Way of Water. He described the film as “bolder and tighter,” praising its more dramatically focused story and noting that it still delivers “its share of amazements.” Readmore!

Vulture critic Bilge Ebiri labelled the film the “richest” entry in the Avatar franchise. He said it is the one “in which we most lose ourselves,” highlighting its immersive world-building and the way it encourages viewers to linger on its characters and visually rapturous backgrounds.

Polygon writer Matt Patches framed the film as a strong rebuttal to AI-generated “slop.” He praised James Cameron and his visual effects team for going to “unfathomable lengths” to bring physicality, craftsmanship, and emotional nuance to digital creations.

These reviews are negative to positive bringing in a mixed talk so far. The film is set to hit Indian screens on Dec 19th and need to see how the Indian audience receive this magnum opus from James Cameroon.
