Kodali Nani back in action, takes part in protests

After nearly 18 months of political inactivity due to health issues and other personal problems, YSR Congress party leader and former Andhra Pradesh minister Kodali Sri Venkateswara Rao alias Kodali Nani) was back in action with political activity.

There were reports recently that YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had expressed unhappiness over lack of active participation in the party programmes by certain leaders, including Kodali Nani and Vallabhaneni Vamsi.

He reportedly asked them to either be active in the party or look for alternative avenues.

Apparently taking the hint from the boss, Kodali Nani made a public return on Wednesday by participating in the YSR Congress Party’s one-crore signature campaign opposing the privatisation of government medical colleges.  Readmore!

He signed the petition that is to be submitted to the Governor and formally launched a rally of party cadres by waving the party flag.

Interacting enthusiastically with YSRCP workers, Nani said that Jagan Mohan Reddy had established 17 medical colleges with the objective of making medical education accessible to poor students across the state.

He noted that five colleges had already been completed under the previous government and another five were nearing completion.

Describing the decision to privatise government medical colleges and hospitals as a “cruel” and “anti-poor” measure, he alleged that the new coalition government was conspiring to dismantle institutions created for public welfare.

He said Jagan Mohan Reddy had begun a people’s movement to resist this move alongside the public. Nani asserted that the campaign was receiving overwhelming support from citizens.

He demanded that chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan withdraw the privatisation proposal in accordance with public sentiment.

The collected petitions would be submitted to the Governor under the leadership of Jagan Mohan Reddy, he added.
