Despite strong buzz on social media—and some influencers prematurely claiming that all issues have been resolved—there is still no concrete progress regarding the release of Akhanda 2.
Senior producer D. Suresh Babu, though not directly associated with the project, expressed optimism about facilitating a settlement between the Akhanda 2 makers and Eros International.
However, the situation remains unchanged. Eros International has filed a lawsuit in the Madras High Court seeking to halt the film’s release until pending dues of â¹28 crore are cleared.
While Suresh Babu is attempting to mediate, no compromise or official communication was submitted to the court on Friday.
Industry insiders further reveal that the producers also owe substantial amounts to several local financiers.
Discussions with lenders are ongoing, with hopes of reaching some level of clarity by Saturday morning.
Even if the financial disputes are resolved overnight, releasing the film on Saturday would still be highly challenging.
U.S. distributors are unable to arrange theaters on such short notice, and a release in India without U.S. premieres would lead to massive losses.
For now, Akhanda 2 remains stuck in uncertainty—with no confirmed release plan in sight.
