Setback to Vamsi, as court rejects his bail plea

In a big setback to YSR Congress party leader and former MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi, the special court for CID cases in Vijayawada on Thursday rejected his bail petition in connection with the attack on the Telugu Desam Party office at Gannavaram in 2023.

The CID court, which heard the arguments over his bail petition, dismissed the bail petition of Vamsi. Along with Vamsi, the court also rejected bail petitions filed by four other accused in the same case.

Vallabhaneni Vamsi has been named as an accused in the case related to the attack on the TDP office in Gannavaram.

He was arrested on February 13, 2024, in connection with this incident. The CID registered a case against him in this regard, naming him as Accused No. 71 (A-71).

In a related case, the Vijayawada police took him into custody under the jurisdiction of Hyderabad’s Raidurgam police station before transferring him to Gannavaram, in connection with the kidnapping of a Dalit worker  M Satyavardhan, who was the computer operator at the Gannavaram TDP office and a key witness to the attack.

Vamsi had earlier filed a bail petition in the 12th Additional District Sessions Court in Vijayawada, seeking relief.

The court took up the petition for hearing and listened to arguments from both sides. However, after considering the evidence and legal arguments, the court dismissed the petition, rejecting Vamsi’s request for bail.
